On the square, the U-13s got the better of Worcester Park by a nail-biting 112 runs. While over on the U-9 pitch there was a disturbance in the Force. You may have felt it. Our GC team beat Sunbury.

Club Archives
After news of the fire at Hampton Hill Cricket Club that destroyed their pavilion and with it their archives of 80 years, the Committee decided that the TDCC records, dating back to 1800, then stored in a cupboard in our pavilion, should be kept in a somewhat safer environment.
The archives have now been placed in secure storage at the Surrey History Centre in Woking. The archivist there, Margaret Griffiths, and her team have now completed the daunting task of sorting through the stacks of material, organising it into a meaningful sequence, cataloguing, and placing listings of the records on the Surrey History Centre web site. Read the ‘Thames Ditton Cricket Club Archives’ section (add the link here) to see how to access this web site
In outline, the records remain the property of the Club, but may be accessed by any researcher, under the procedures laid down by SHC. The author of a biography of Tom Richardson, Thames Ditton, Surrey and England cricketer, to be published in 2012 on the centenary of his death, has already made use of this facility.
As new records become available they may be added to the collection. In this digital age, where documents are emailed or put on the internet, only to be deleted within a short time, it is hoped that anything important is recorded in a more permanent format and added to our archives. The TDCC records of a century ago, now in the History Centre, are far more comprehensive than those there for recent years.
Club Tidy-up Day
A Great Day day was held by all on March 11th preparing the club for 2012. 25 or more volunteers weeded, painted, cleaned, refurbished and …supervised! Thansk all! We have a little more to do inclusing some concreting on March 24th.
A Message from the Club Captain….
Well, the 2012 season will be with us before you know it. In the blinking of an eye.
Believe it or not the Sun will soon be shining down on us and our TDCC kit as we make our assault on 2012 honours.
2011 is but a memory. It was a tough Summer but we got through it by sticking together and working hard. Now that we are better prepared for the 2012 season those same qualities will see us push ahead and challenge at the top of our leagues this year.
Your captains and your committee have been very busy over the Winter months to ensure we are in the best place possible to have a good Summer. An overseas player has been signed, the nets are being well supported and fixtures and grounds have been sorted. We’re in pretty good shape.
There are a couple of things you need to be aware of:
New 3rd XI Captain – Congratulations to Chris Rigby
After a series of high level meetings with many 3rd XI players I am very pleased to announce that the new 3rd XI Captain is Chris Rigby. Chris is the most enthusiastic, fair-playing, well-organised TDCC member you can imagine and he’ll be a big asset to the club in this position. Please join me in welcoming Chris to the role.
Chris’ first job will be to organise one of the famous 3rd XI curry – or perhaps we should open this up further?
Sunday Captain – let me know if you’d like to be considered
Adam Terrington has decided to step down from Sunday captaincy – thanks for your efforts Tez.
We are therefore looking for a new Sunday skipper. I have to say this is a great role especially if you’re trying to get some captaincy experience. Most of the games are at home on the Green, the fixtures are competitive but friendly (cheers Pat) and it really is a very enjoyable form of cricket.
If you would like to be considered for our Sunday captaincy – please just let me know.
Players’ Night – What and When?
We are also looking to have a players’ night in the very near future. To see each other again and to welcome new players. Drop me a note or let your skipper know if you have any ideas for what we should do – apart from have a drink.
As always, please let me know any thoughts, comments or ideas that you have.
